Kauma Brief Encounter – Rooted Practice, Building Communities

Tuesday 24 November 2020
18:00 – 20:00 GMT

This season’s Kauma Brief Encounter focused on dance and somatic practice that is Rooted Practice, Building Communities, featuring Kauma Tribe members Carolyn Lilly, Director of Feel the Rhythm Productions (USA/UK) and Sandra Golding (Jamaica/UK). They came together to share a wealth of knowledge about connecting people from across the African Diaspora and beyond through dance, health and wellbeing, and celebration within the context of traditional and culturally rooted practice.

Kauma Brief Encounters, also known as KBEs, are brief encounters arranged seasonally to bring together creatives in public physical spaces like restaurants, cafes, lounges, creative and/or digital spaces to exchange ideas, cultivate collaborations and deepen the artistic value. They are quick ‘home-away-from-home’ welcome breaks with like-minded people crossing borders in cities around the world.
